Recycled, reclaimed, and repurposed materials transform into dramatic high fashion and wearable art, all one of a kind design and construction by Chikoko.  This evening of fun includes tantalizing performances, music, refreshments, shopping and more.  Dress in your finest or most outlandish!  

Pre-sale tickets available for $18 at Diamond W. or Three Sixty Ecotique, $21 at the door.  Doors open at 6 p.m., show starts at 7:30 p.m.

 
Meet the Artist: Jake Early

Chico Paper Company is excited to host the much awaited third unveiling of Jake Early’s “Chico Experience” series with the “I” print. Early is officially half finished with is 5 piece collection of “The Chico Experience” that will spell out the word C-H-I-C-O when complete CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg will be present to unveil the “I” at 5 p.m.

Early is a graduate of the graphic design program at Chico State and studied at the School of Fine Arts in Seville, Spain. Along with his work as a printmaker, Early is also an accomplished graphic designer and illustrator. His trademark is the use of metallic inks, created by mixing powdered metals into a clear ink base. These inks capture and reflect natural light, shifting the mood of each print as lighting conditions change.

 

 

 
8th Annual FOCUS Film Festival and Short Film Competition

Join us for the kickoff on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Sierra Nevada’s Big Room. The festival continues on Friday and Saturday at Chico State’s Colusa Hall. The festival features documentary and narrative films from around the world that celebrate diversity and inclusion and explore the complexities of the human experience.  Attend workshops with visiting directors, stars, and experts; visit the photo gallery and join us at a reception for the winning directors of the Short Film Competition.

Kick Off @ Sierra Nevada $5
Friday or Saturday day pass: $15 general/ $10 disability or student ticket, $5 per individual session
Two day Festival pass: $25/$15 disability or student ticket, $5 per individual session

 
Shaolin Warriors

The Shaolin Warriors bring the remarkable skill and spectacular imagery of Kung Fu to the Laxson Stage.  Known throughout the world for their martial-arts prowess, these peaceful warriors have trained from a young age and perform feats thought only possible in the movies.  Their performance features many forms of Shaolin Kung Fu, while showcasing their Zen philosophy.

 
Tribal De Chico Belly Dance Festival

Origin presents the sixth annual Tribal de Chico, a belly dance festival celebrating this ancient art in our modern time.  A performance in the evening will feature local belly dancers, as well as special guest dancers from out of the area.  A belly dance workshop will take place earlier that same day.

Origin is a performance troupe specializing in improvisational tribal belly dance.  We are dedicated to exposing local audiences to the artistry of belly dance, expanding dance opportunities for belly dancers in the Chico area as well as establishing a reputation for Chico in the greater world of belly dance through classes, performances and special events.  We have been an established troupe since 2004.
