This juried watermedia exhibition is an annual competition open to all living artists working with watermedia on paper. John Pugh will serve as entry selection juror and Salvatore Casa will serve as awards juror. Pugh is known for creating large trompe l’oeil wall murals giving the illusion of a three-dimensional scene. Pugh has been creating murals since the late 1970s. He attended California State University Chico receiving his BA in 1983 and the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2003. He has received numerous public and private commissions in the United States, Taiwan, and New Zealand. His particular mural style sparked the term “Narrative Illusionism.” Pugh currently lives in Truckee, CA. Sal Casa is a well-known painter, who has taught at CSU Chico and many other classes especially at the Chico Art Center. He is an award-winning member of the National Watercolor Society and his work is exhibited in Chico as well as around the country.
