The award, presented annually during National Arts and Humanities Month, and Artoberfest, was created to recognize individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations for their contributions to art in the community. The awards are presented in memory Joe Kaveney, founding member of the Arts Commission, in recognition of his long service to the arts in Chico.
