Come to Chico Paper Company and watch Ellen create original works in oil on canvas.
Spring has long been a main theme in Ellen Heise's art. This Artoberfest, Chico Paper Company is showing a whole new series of works by Ellen Heise portraying local and regional landscapes. Chico Paper Company is delighted to bring this new body of work to the Chico audience.
Heise uses brush and palette knife strokes to create a smooth vs. rough texture. A style of impression marries modern style of plain air, which is wet on wet to maintain the fresh, clean look of pigment.
"My art is a combination of my memories, dreams and fantasies of my Chinese roots and culture, with the influence of western art and history. My love and passion for nature is also reflective in these works. As I journey so far away from my own hometown, Taiwan, I battle never-ending homesickness. My paintings are reflections of the memory of my culture and traditions," says Heise.
