As a benefit for Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park, local artists will appear at various locations in Chico painting live for members of the community to view their art in progress. The event will include a 4-day paint-out and feature live music performances each day as the artists paint. Tickets to enter in a drawing to win an award-winning oil painting of the Bidwell Mansion by artist Laura Williams (featured as the Oct 14 listing photo) at the Benefit Show will also be on sale starting in July up the final day of the event. Paint-out dates include Sept 17, Sept 24, Oct 2 and Oct 9 with a final Benefit Show on Oct 14.

Calendar of Events:

Day 1: “Save the Mansion”

Sept 17 | 9 am-4 pm

A benefit for Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park, this is the first of a series of four events during which the public can watch artists paint and listen to live music. This day, the Butte Folk Music Society will perform at noon. Bring the family and a lunch and join us in marshalling community support to keep the mansion open. Art from the plein air paint-out will be on display at Avenue 9 during the October 14 Uptown ARTabout.

Day 2: “Celebrate the Creek”

Sept 24 | 9 am-4 pm

A benefit for Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park, this is the second of a series of four events during which the public can watch artists paint the picturesque exterior of Creekside Cellars, Chico Creek and Annie’s Glenn—with music too!

Day 3: “Paint Out at Mozart Mile”

Oct 2 | 8:30 am

This event teams up Avenue 9 with the North State Symphony for their yearly healthiest fundraiser, the Mozart Mile. Our artists will set up at “stations” within the one-mile lower-Bidwell Park loop and paint while musicians play and fitness and music enthusiasts walk or run the circuit.

Day 4: “Matador Masterpieces”

Oct 9 | 9 am-4 pm

Viewers stroll among the palms as artists depict the Spanish Colonial style of the Matador Motel, site of the new yearly ChiVAA Matador Art Fiesta. Expect music with a Latin beat.

Heritage Trails II Paint-Out Benefit Show

Oct 14 | 4-8 pm

Enjoy the artworks created during the Sept 17-Oct 9  “Save the Mansion” paint-out.  Visit with the artists, talk to community supporters of keeping the park open, and participate in our fund-raising effort to benefit Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park.  There will be a drawing at 7 p.m. for Laura Williams’ prize-winning painting donated by Avenue 9 Gallery.
