I paint the landscape without evidence of man's imprint on the land. I try to convey an emotional response to a specific place. I want the viewer to be able to recognize the place, but other than that there is a fair amount of abstraction going on. I start with a realistic drawing and as the painting progresses it takes on a personality of its own. I have learned to let the work express itself.
