“Keeping Hope Alive ~ Life and Culture in Occupied Palestine,” an educational program on Palestinian life and culture to be presented October 8 – 18, 2012. The intention of “Keeping Hope Alive” is to provide an opportunity for members of the Chico community and the CSU campus to appreciate through various art forms the richness of Palestinian culture, the diversity of real-life experiences in Palestine, and what keeps Palestinian culture vital despite overwhelming odds. The unifying thread of the program will be the acclaimed Gaza children’s art exhibit “A Child’s View from Gaza,” forty works of children’s art to be hung on the walls of the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center and in display cases in Ayres Hall. In addition, a series of activities will be offered, to be held in and around CCLC, including a slide-show presentation “Experiencing Occupied Palestine and Beyond,” as well as films, folk dance, theatrical, poetic and culinary/craft contributions. All presentations will be free of charge.
The event will be held at two CSU Chico locations including the Cross Cultural Leadership Center which is located at CSU, Chico's Meriam Library 172 as well as Ayres Hall. There will be 20 Gaza children's art pieces in the display cases at Ayres. There will also be 20 paintings displayed at the Cross Cultural Leadership Center.
Presented by The Chico Palestine Action Group, CSU, Chico’s Cross Cultural Leadership Center and the Janet Turner Print Museum
