Chico Artoberfest

The Chico Independent Film Festival

The festival will be scheduled to run from Thursday Evening (10/21) beginning at 6pm and offer showings over the next three days and concluding Sunday (10/24) at 9pm.
 

SCOPE  of CIFF:

As the Producer of the Chico Independent Film Festival (CIFF), Kelly M. Desmore, Producer/Senior Programmer(and with Staff), it is my duty and honor to bring opportunity and praise to Chico, my home. The independent film artist community in Chico is a dedicated group of people, belonging to a number of groups and organizations. With the assistance of The Chico Downtown, the CIFF will bring these people together in a collaborative, creative atmosphere, working with the Chico business/arts community through various avenues of promotion.

Chico independent filmmakers and related artists are in the forefront of digital film making. Many if not most have already written and produced numerous short films and projects, and have entered dozens of ongoing contests, competitions, and festivals. In addition, many Chico artists have contact with other Northern California areas, specifically the Bay Area and Sacramento. The draw is local Northern California artists to the festival, and tourists to Chico.

The combination of the CIFF melding the vision of Art and Commerce, and blended with Travel and Tourism will present a well-balanced – and well-received – launch of Chico's first independent film festival. The combination of local talent and virtual cooperative communities, and interactive collaboration with local commerce and tourism will enable a successful event that will carry on for years in Chico.

ARTISTS AND SUBMISSIONS --- $10.00 per submission.  Due September 30th, 2010.

The primary focus will be to find and acquire participants – filmmakers – through advertising, marketing and promotion in conjunction with various arts-related groups and organizations. This will be primarily in Chico and surrounding areas (primarily Butte County, but branching to the Bay Area and  Sacramento). Once the schedule is finalized for submissions, festival staff will be working to foster new and existing relationships with local businesses and groups who support the arts.

CIFF will accept film entries from any independent artist, anywhere from Chico Area or Alumni from all schools. However the desire of this group is to keep a more local flavor if possible, by focusing on Northern California and Chico specifically.

CEREMONIES
CIFF will hold two primary ceremonies: the first will be the opening hosted evening event to welcome participants and supporters; the second will be an awards dinner ceremony with local entertainment.

Proposed CIFF Locations
Discussion and negotiations are in progress with the following Chico locations to be used as possible venues for showings and group functions. A number of local groups have already offered enthusiastic support in whatever manner possible (financial or in-kind).
