Young String Players will make music in the studio at 2 p.m. Oct. 2 and Oct. 9:

Painter and Guild Member David Mallory (Retired CSUC Music Department Professor ) will introduce a short program of classical, Baroque and fiddling violin styles by a select group of his students Saturday October 2 and Saturday October 9 at 2pm.  Many of these young people whose ages range from seven to thirteen have been tutored with the internationally known Suzuki Method developed by Sinichi Suzuki in Japan.  Mallory directed a “Suzuki” school with five teachers and seventy violin and cello students in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  His students are members of the Chico Youth Orchestras; the most advanced will perform this season with North State Symphony’s concerts for Chico public school children.

Join us for a reception on Friday October 15 (5-8 p.m.) to meet Michele Miller and view a compendium of some of her most vibrant images.  From the mundane to the exotic--flowers, Buddha faces, and nature scenes from Bali, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, Miller's vision is a gift.  While the poetic delicacy of photographic cards and original jewelry has entranced visitors to Chico Saturday’s Farmer’s market for years, this is a golden opportunity to experience startling color dramas in Miller’s art. check it out here

Description

Avenue 9 Gallery opened with an exhibition "Openings" January 16, 2004. In April 2009, the gallery was transformed into a professional artist guild whose members are excited about exhibiting their art, learning from each other, sharing their knowledge, and solidifying their artistic presence in the community. Major decisions regarding direction, focus, membership, exhibition and event calendar are made collectively. All artists maintain a consistent presence in the gallery and have the opportunity periodically to be featured artist. As a professional organization, the gallery also does community outreach and mounts special exhibitions and group shows and sometimes engages in collaborative programs with other galleries and/or with advanced students at both Chico State University and Butte College.
