The museum gallery is located on the mezzanine floor of the historic Laxson Auditorium, 1st and Salem Streets. Additional prints are also on display in the Ayres Hall first floor cases, which is located directly behind the auditorium.The museum was established in 1981 with an initial generous gift of over 2,000 prints from the late CSU, Chico faculty member Dr. Janet Turner, an internationally known printmaker and educator.
