Orff-Schulwerk is music, movement and language. It is singing, rhythm, imagination, improvisation, dancing, fantasy, playing instruments and creating.
Orff-Schulwerk is an elemental, innovative philosophy of music education based on the manner in which children naturally communicate, through sound, using their voices to speak, chant and sing. Children also employ their bodies finding
self-expression with movement and dance. Carl Orff’s Schulwerk is concerned with developing the whole child. It is utilized by both the music specialist and the classroom teacher as it is easily integrated with any content area giving the creative teacher a unique set of tools that enhance the learning process while
developing positive self-esteem in every child. Susan Tevis will help music
teachers and others experience music and movement in ways that can apply directly to the classroom. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a recorder if you have one. Free to MLAOSA members ($70 regular membership which includes 3 workshops) $40 for the Oct. 25 workshop. Call (530) 895-9170 for more information.
