Linda C. Smith is a native Californian. "Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember," she says. "My grandfather was a painter – he worked in oils and loved to paint both California seascapes and California missions. His style was what he used to refer to as "impressionistic realism" and it came as a surprise to us both that I would be attracted to the abstract."
 Linda considers herself an “abstract colorist” because for her the passion is manipulating color. She honed her skills at both Eastern Michigan University and then the University of Oregon. "I also took classes at a couple different community colleges, always experimenting with what other mediums could teach me," she said.
Linda is currently working in mosaics utilizing tiny ceramic tiles made in Morocco. She also enjoys working in acrylics and mixed media. She says, "Each medium offers a unique challenge to expressing what I see in Life – color."
